It’s pretty safe to say that if you’re a member of the Friends cast, you’ve got it made. All six actors reportedly receive around $20 million each year from reruns alone, but of course, that’s no reason to turn down their Friends reunion cast salary. Anything for a throwback, am I right?!
As Friends fans may know by now, the long-awaited Friends reunion—which is aptly titled, “The One Where They Get Back Together”—finally arrived on HBO Max on Thursday, May 27 after many postponements and canceled film dates due to the pandemic. While there was even a point in time where fans weren’t so sure if the reunion special would ever see the light of day, one thing was always clear: the cast would be getting paid generously for their appearances. Early on in the production process, reports had already emerged about the cast’s salary for their participation in the hour-long episode. So, how much are we talking, exactly?
Well, Courtney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Perry are all reportedly earning anywhere between $2.5 million to $3 million for the reunion special, according to The Hollywood Reporter. If you think that’s a huge amount for, uh, pretty much just showing up, just wait until you hear how this compares to how much the Friends cast earned while the show was still filming: During season three, the stars were reportedly paid around $75,000 per episode, $85,000 in season four, $100,000 in season five, $125,000 in season six, $750,000 in seasons seven and eight, and a whopping $1 million per episode in seasons nine and ten.
So if you ask us, we’re thinking that the estimated rate for the Friends reunion probably leans toward the higher end of the scale—after all, these stars are already used to the big bucks. And let’s be real, isn’t it worth it for nostalgia’s sake? After watching Friends: The Reunion on HBO Max, we’d sure say it is.
